Our Goal

to help writers get read

Writing is hard.

In school, there are workshops and classes where writers can share ideas, work off deadlines, and give feedback. But not everyone can go to school to study writing, and (once you graduate) the real world doesn't have that safe space to progress. Creativity tends to be swallowed up by everyday life and the clamor to get your work noticed.

Our goal is to make it all a bit easier.

We want to help you feel less alone in the scary process, be able to finish your story, and share it with the world. We'll provide you with help centering your ideas, a timeline to finish them, and feedback to make them the best they can be. We think your story can change the world, and we will not rest until they're made and made well.

We're designed to be both personal and professional so we can form a relationship with you while giving you industry level feedback. We will help you prepare your novel, play, or screenplay for your goal (contest, agent, publication, etc.) while cheering you on!

If writing makes you happy, there are no more excuses. Your story deserves it.

Meet The Creatives

we are they

Katherine Oostman

Katherine Oostman is a director, writer, and photographer. She was homeschooled, studied at Oxford, and worked at the Sochi Olympics. She concerns herself with the dramatic, philosophical, and futuristic, so a debate about morality in space is her ideal.

She most recently worked for Protozoa Pictures providing script coverage for their development team. She has served as Editor-in-Chief of The Asbury Review and written for Thought Catolog, Local iQ, MediumMogul, Girl-ishThe Asbury Review, and The Asbury Collegian. She has written and directed over fourteen short films and four books. She won the 2016 New Orleans Film Festival Pitching contest, and her short film "The Sense of Feel" screened at the 2015 TEDx ABQ event. She has also worked as a writing tutor and editor for writers with English as their second language.

She holds two bachelor's degrees in Media Communication and Creative Writing as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production. She spends her free time rock climbing, creating high-concept photography, and collecting far too many books. When she grows up, she wants to be an astronaut.

More information about Katherine can be found here.

Carolina Garrigo

Carolina Garrigo is a writer and editor...for now. A lover of space, laughs and mayonnaise, she has always dreamed of creating worlds and sharing them with others, an obsession born of an overactive imagination, literature and Star Wars. She strengthened her love of film and writing while at Columbia University and Florida State University's College of Motion Picture Arts.

She has worked in film, reality television (Chopped, Impractical Jokers), and theater. No matter the medium, Caro's passion remains the same-telling stories. You can find her on any given day eating a grilled cheese sandwich and politely forcing everyone to watch Firefly

Our Story

How it started

We met in graduate school where we discovered a mutual passion for sarcasm, story telling, and sci-fi - friendship was inevitable. We worked together on many of the 30+ short films we made during our program, expanding their cinematography, design, directing, and writing skills. By the time we got to thesis, collaboration seemed natural. We co-wrote a film: Katherine directed it, Carolina designed and edited it.

As we finished post-production, we discussed what we wanted to do with our lives. As you can imagine, creativity was the theme of the conversation. However, beyond our own projects, we discussed how once we graduated, there really wasn't a place for us or our classmates to help keep our passion projects going while we navigated real life. We decided to change that.

Between the two of us, we have around twelve years of creative project development experience, over twenty years of creative experience, and a infinite passion for good stories. The only thing left to do was start They Create.
